Brno Jedna: What’s Happening Underground
20 / 10 / 2025
At the Brno Jedna site, work is currently focused on securing the construction pit using a tied, pre-drilled pile wall and on excavating a total of 15,000 m³ of soil. This excavation will make room for two underground floors of the XENON and NEON buildings. To put that into perspective, it’s roughly the amount of soil needed to fill Square of Svobody up to the roofs of trams – or enough to fill six Olympic-size swimming pools.
Before the main works could begin, it was necessary to relocate utility networks, demolish the original building, and set up the construction site. Now, however, the heavy machinery is fully engaged, digging deep into the ground as the foundations of the new multifunctional district begin to take shape.
